Removals from Málaga to the UK

UK to Spain removals, door to door

Málaga is the busiest return route we cover, and the best one for a bargain. Every van that delivers a British household to the Costa del Sol has to drive home — and removers would far rather fill that returning vehicle at a discount than run it empty. That’s a backload, and on this route they come up more often than anywhere else in Spain.

Typical transit is 2–7 days door to door.

Where we collect

The whole of Málaga province: the city and its suburbs, Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Mijas, La Cala, Calahonda, Nerja and Torrox in the east, Estepona in the west, and inland to Coín, Alhaurín and the Guadalhorce valley. For Marbella and its urbanisations, see Removals from Marbella to the UK →.

If you’re in a gated urbanisation, give us the community name when you enquire — many require the vehicle and crew to be booked in with security beforehand, and it’s easier arranged than explained at the gate on the morning.

Why backload dates are cheaper

The saving is real and it’s worth planning around. Outbound demand to the Costa del Sol is heavy year-round, which means a steady stream of vans arriving that then need filling for the trip home. If you can offer a collection window — say, any day in a given fortnight — rather than one fixed date, you’ll typically pay meaningfully less than the same load costs going out.

If you need an exact date, that’s a dedicated run and prices normally. Both are available; it’s your call which matters more.

How the reverse corridor works →

What it costs

Reverse pricing depends on van availability in the province on your dates, which is why most companies won’t quote it publicly. As a working guide, part loads start around £1,000 for 5m³ with backload dates below that, and a three-bed household runs £3,500–£6,500. Full cost guide →

UK customs — apply for ToR1 first

If you’re moving your home back to Britain, HMRC’s Transfer of Residence relief brings your belongings in free of duty and VAT. You apply before the goods travel and give the reference to your remover.

This is the single most common thing people leave too late on this route. Goods arriving without a reference can be held while it’s sorted, and storage charges start. Full ToR1 guide →

What people move back

Full households from people leaving permanently, and — very common on this coast — partial loads from second homes being sold, where the furniture comes back but the buyer keeps the white goods. Those are ideal backload cargo: small, flexible, no rush.

Moving back for good?

Our complete guide to moving back to the UK → covers the order to do everything in — deregistering from the padrón, the Spanish tax exit, pets, the car, and re-registering with the NHS.

Frequently asked questions

How much are removals from Málaga to the UK? Part loads from around £1,000 for 5m³, less on backload dates; a three-bed household £3,500–£6,500 (2026 guide prices). Flexible dates are the biggest saving.

What is a backload and why is Málaga good for them? Discounted space on a van returning to the UK. Málaga is the corridor’s busiest outbound destination, so more vans return from here than anywhere else in Spain.

How long does Málaga to the UK take? Typically 2–7 days door to door, depending on whether you’re on a dedicated run or a scheduled backload.

Do I pay duty bringing my furniture home? Not if you claim ToR1 relief and apply before the goods travel. Emptying a second home doesn’t qualify.

Can you collect from a gated urbanisation? Yes — tell us the community name so the vehicle can be booked in with security in advance.

Do you cover Nerja, Fuengirola and Estepona? Yes, the whole province, plus the inland villages.
